Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Hello artists!

September 1st brings several new updates to our community!

  • Various site design improvements
  • Revamp and modification of CG-Nation Competitions
  • The new Sketchbook section
  • WIP Images now allow for an unlimited amount of images
  • CGN Facebook group and Twitter page

Revamp of CGN Competitions

As discussed on the forums and in last weeks IRC sessions, we've decided to make some changes to competitions here at CGN, to better faciliate busy or in school artists:

  • Action and AN8 Competitions as been dropped
  • XX Competition is now animation only
  • Slow and Speed Modeling Competitions have been extended to allow for more submissions during a busy school week

Following later today will be the launch of the CGN Competitions communication feed, where other interested CG sites can have access to active competition information going on at this site.

New Sketchbook Section

Have you ever had a model, drawing or something that wasn't WIP quality, or something you weren't seriously working on or didn't want serious crits on?  Post in the Sketchbook section!  Post up test images, experimental drawings or renders or other items that aren't really WIP level, but that you still want to share with the community!

CGN Facebook and Twitter

Thanks to TheMan, we now have a CGN group on Facebook!  Come join today and get to know more about the members of the community!  Also, follow CG-Nation on Twitter for updates, and notifications!

I have  a suggestion. I really like how we are allowed to put as many pictures as we want on WIP's and sketchbooks. But I think it would be better if we could comment on each one. The owner, I mean. That way there won't be a mix-up if there is a bunch of pictures, and all of the comments on each one is at the bottom of the page.
